Join a Park Ranger for a variety of Interpretive Programs on Mondays and Wednesdays throughout the summer. We rotate through several different programs so please contact the Nature Center (305) 872-9807 to see which program we’re doing this week!
History Walk: Meet a Park Ranger at the Sand and Sea Nature Center to begin your journey back in time. Hear about the fascinating history of Henry Flagler and the Florida East Coast Railway as you walk around the old Bahia Honda Bridge.
Beach Wet Walk: Meet a Park Ranger at the entrance to the Wings and Waves Butterfly Garden by the rental kayaks to begin your underwater adventure. We’ll be using “look buckets” as our window to the world beneath the water – it’s like snorkeling without putting your face in the water! We’ll be walking in the water up to waist-deep, so wear some shoes and shorts that can get wet. Bring water and wear reef safe sunscreen.
Beach Walk: Meet a Park Ranger at the entrance to the Wings and Waves Butterfly Garden by the rental kayaks to start your exploration of Loggerhead Beach. As we walk along the beach, you’ll learn about the wrackline, birds, butterflies and plants of Bahia Honda.
Nature Center: Join our one of our Park Rangers inside the Nature Center for an interpretive talk. Subjects include sea turtles, shorebirds, snorkeling, habitats, history and many more. Come in and cool off in the air conditioned comfort of the Sand and Sea Nature Center.
